My Little Swimmer

Okay, Joshua doesn't know how to swim, actually he has never been in any body of water except for his bath. But his bath is on of his favorite things. He gets so excited when I pull out his tub. When I get him undressed, he crawls, naked, as fast as he can to the bathroom, right to the tub. When I pick him up to put him in it, his legs start kicking as fast as he can. When he gets settled in his tub, I give him is bath toys. Right now his favorite are the toys that squirt water through their mouths. He doesn't know how to work them, but sometimes he gets a good water squirt which causes lots of laughter. Another favorite thing for Joshua to do his put his face in the water. I quickly pick lift him up but he is not shocked or sad, he just smiles. After awhile, when the water is starting to cool and his little fingers and toes are wrinkled, I take him out of the water. Sometimes this causes some screaming, but if I let him hold onto one of his water squirting toys everything is usually okay. I dry him off and take the toy away and try to get all of the water out and then quickly hand it back to him. Joshua loves playing with this toy while I put lotion on his body and get him ready for bed. Every once in awhile, the toy still has water in it and he squirts it. It usually hits him, but this causes no tears, but another round of laughter.

So I am not sure how Joshua will be this summer in the pool, but if he is anything like he is in the tub, I think we'll have a little swimmer on our hands.

The Sierra Madre program is really great fyi... Mommy and Baby sessions in all sorts of times. I always made sure it was right after Abby's nap... but of course - she was not so cool with water of any sort at the time.
